Given the dining options in the area you could do much, much worse. The food is standard Big Boy. The service is hit and miss. If you get the breakfast bar on the weekends you can see what you are getting and barely have to deal with the servers...Bonus!!

The service was bad. Twenty minutes after placing our order, the waitress dropped off a fruit bowl in front of me, saying "See, I didn't forget about you." A half hour later the rest of the meal arrived -- a somewhat undercooked omelet. I would have been more understanding if the place was super busy, but that wasn't the case. They seemed most efficient at having us pay the bill.

I was referred to another restaurant for dinner but they were closed so I came here instead. II usually try to avoid chains but I figured, heck, I'll at least get to have a piece of their delicious strawberry pie! There are no Big Boy's in San Diego any more and that pie is one thing I loved to get there. Wouldn't you know it, they were out of it that evening! I had one of my favorites from the past--a Slim Jim--deluxe I think--and had to stop by the next day on my way out of town for the pie. I was glad to have the opportunity to taste it again. It was as good as I remembered!

Had breakfast there just past noon on a Sunday after the early rush crowd. Breakfast buffet bar looked pretty sickly, so I had some eggs and hash browns off the menu instead. Was average if that. Service was somewhat slower than I had hoped but the attitude was friendly and nice. Cleanliness seemed good and the restrooms were well maintained. 3 stars only because I can't do 2.5. Average to slightly sub average.

I have written a review on Big Boy before but I always missed Friday evening Buffets. Since I was craving Fish tonight I got the Family in there just in time. As buffets go It was pretty good, hot crispy fried stuff, ice cold salad stuff, clams, shrimp cod and a surprise I didn't expect SMELT, I've never eaten Smelt before, strange little fish, for as small as it is it packs a lot of flavor. The service was awesome so that hasn't changed Sierra was our server and she was very attentive and informed. I ended up asking where they got their smelt and she told me Reinhart Foodservice. It was a good visit we left there joking and smiling with the staff and a very full stomach...definitely a return trip in our future.

The big sign advertised perch. How could I resist. Normally when camping I don't eat out, but perch...Haven't been to a Big Boy in years. Was a bit leary. When the perch came the batter looked pale. Had the green beans and cole slaw (aren't I good - no fries or mashed potatoes and gravy). Well what do you know, it was pretty tasty! Slapped some butter on those beans and they were great. Tooka piece of cherry crumb pie back to camp with me. Staff up north friendly. I would go again for the perch, and maybe even something else.

Ordered a fish sandwich and fries, the sandwich was basically a small fish stick that tasted like dry leather. Told waitress and she apologized. The cook should go back to making prison food. Reluctantly paid and walked out. Never going here again. McDonald's Filet o fish is french cuisine compared this. Eat at your own risk.

Oscoda is the town my family always went to for our family vacations. We always rented the same cottage right on the lake and always had a blast. This Big Boy, who I think has always been a franchise, was were Mom liked to take us for breakfast, if we weren't cooking for ourselves, and it's always been pretty good. Well it still is. nothing fancy, no frills but it is exactly what you need in the morning. Just give me some good coffee, some eggs and tasty potatoes. It's nice to see something stay the same that I can remember from my childhood. Keep it up folks. =)

Worst experience ever. Burger bar had brown lettuce, burned chili cheese, old nacho cheese and the broccoli soup had stalks in it. It was like eating hay. The whole time no tables were cleared. 4 sat filthy for our whole dining experience. As we left a used tampon and bloody napkin were left in the handicap parking space. I highly recommend avoiding this establishment.

It is smaller than some Big Boy's (which I make mention of because if it is summer and Sunday - you may have to wait) but the people and the buffet don't look so worn out....which if you have been to another Big Boy, you'll know what I am saying. They have a new pick 3, 4, or 5 breakfast meal which is wallet friendly and fresh. FYI you can get the Big Boy sandwich without fries and it is $2 cheaper - which is not on the menu. If you still want to spend the $2, get the all you can eat soup and salad bar (and take the sandwich home to enjoy later). They have WIFI.
